Gifts to Princeton down - Newsday

Donations to Princeton University are down but remain surprisingly strong in the weak economy. The Ivy League school received $44.6 million in gifts for the year that ended June 30, the third best ever. That's down from a record $54.1 million in the 2007-08 academic year. The university blames the economy for the decline.
