Louisiana adds $95.4 million to higher-education budget - John Pope, The Times-Picayune

The state's four higher-education systems will have about $95.4 million more to work with as they plan next year's budgets, according to figures released today by the state Board of Regents.
This means they will have to cut $119.4 million from their budgets, nearly $100 million less than the $219 million that the Jindal administration had proposed trimming before the Legislature met. The LSU System received the most -- $45.7 million -- but it will still have to cut its budget by about $52 million. The smallest amount -- $6.3 million -- went to the Southern University System, meaning it will have to trim about $10.6 million. The University of Louisiana System, which got $30.1 million, will have to slice nearly $37 million from its budget. The Louisiana Community and Technical College, which received nearly $13.2 million, will have to find ways to remove about $15.6 million from its budget.
